The NCEA Ear Training Workbook - Volume One **NEW**
Here is the ultimate resource for teachers of NCEA 1.4 (aural).
In 2011 New Zealand music teachers now have the new 91093 (1.4) aural achievement standard available to use with their students. As this is quite different from the previous 1.4 standard Learning Ideas have produced an all new resource for developing NZ students' aural skills.
This huge resource has been based on the music exam exemplar available on the NZQA website. However, it is possible this may change slightly so we have decided to release "The NCEA Ear Training Workbook" as a subscription service where at the start of each term you will be emailed links to download pdf ebooks and audio. This means that as we develop each terms resource you will be able to have input as to what you would like to have in it. Let us do all the work for you!
What you will get:
*A package emailed to you each term. Each package contains 30x15 minute aural 'sessions' for you to use at the start of three classes per week. Each session contains two exercises (60 exercises in total per term). The level of difficulity will increase term by term starting very simply and getting up to exam difficulity.
*Each package contains teacher AND student workbooks. Each workbook contains the audio for each exercise embedded in the document. This means you can give the students their own workbook so they can do the exercises for homework or during study periods. Now there is no excuse for a student to be behind due to class absence. You can duplicate as many student books as you need (for use by students attending your school).
Audio is also given separately as MP3's if you prefer. You also now have the freedom to project the questions via data projector.
*Three practise exams emailed to you. One in term three and two in term four (dates still TBC).
*As a special bonus you will also receive a link to download a digital version of the hugely popular "Ultimate Ear Training Workbook - Vol 1". You may give this to advanced students who may find the material of the term one package too simple. Note, there is no duplication of material between these level one resources.I am convinced that this resource combined with good teaching will enable any motivated student to gain achievement with excellence in the NCEA 1.4 external exam. This is a huge, all new resource, it is all you need for teaching aural in your school.

The Teachers’ Guide to Ear Training
This book and CD package focuses on giving teachers strategies, techniques and exercises for teaching beginner ear training to their year 9-11 students. Rather than just being a resource with lots of testing exercises this resource includes a method of teaching ear training to beginners.
Through a combination of learning about intervals, melodies and chord progressions students will quickly develop well-rounded and proficient musical recognition skills
This book and CD contains over 100 musical examples for developing your students’ ear training skills. Exercises can be either, teacher directed, student directed or peer-to-peer directed (co-operative learning). You, the teacher, will be able to monitor your students’ progress through a series of student self-evaluation exercises so you will know exactly how quickly to move on to new and more challenging exercises.
Also included is an end of course exam similar to what students will encounter in external national assessments.

The Ultimate Student Revision Guide - Vol. 1
Formerly the "NCEA 1.4 Aural Student Revision Guide"
This student guide is designed to assist NCEA level 1 students with their preparation for the NZQA external exam. The guide consists of:
- 20 Chord Recognition exercises (ten with melody and ten without).
- 10 General Perception exercises.
- 20 Melodic and Rhythmic notation exercises(all two-part melodies).
All 50 questions are accompanied by an assessment schedule which is modeled on the NZQA guidelines. The book is accompanied by an audio CD.
All musical examples have been specially composed and recorded for the Student Guide so there is no overlappng with the Ultimate Guide (which many teachers have purchased).
PLEASE NOTE!! - This resource will be updated around term three 2011 for the new 91093 (1.4) aural achievement standard. Until then we have limited copies of the old excellent book as described above for $15+GST. While stocks last.
